# Madu (码渡) · Codex to Codex

> Madu is a desktop tool that locally encrypts selected Codex conversations and transfers them between computers through a private GitHub repository controlled by the user.

Conversation content is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before leaving the computer. GitHub stores .c2c encrypted files and visible repository metadata. Madu does not operate an additional relay server.
The current version syncs user messages, assistant replies, and historical plans. Madu does not separately package tool logs, local credential stores, or project files. Secrets already present in selected conversation messages will still be transferred.
Transfers are manual. A remote download and Git commit check are required before upload. The sync password is not stored; Electron safeStorage protects the GitHub token with DPAPI on Windows and Keychain on macOS.
The repository must be initialized and private, and the token needs Contents read/write permission. A fine-grained token limited to that repository is recommended for least privilege.

Build targets: Windows x64; macOS can be built from source, but no signed and notarized public DMG is available.
